D. Fred Altmann
During his 12 years as an educator, Fred Altmann began working in the construction industry as a laborer and apprentice. He was originally employed in his father’s construction firm, building homes and remodeling interiors. Fred has a Bachelor of Science and Masters Degree from Utah State University, lifetime teaching and counseling credentials, and several construction licenses.
His first building project began in Los Gatos, California, in 1975. Since then, Fred has developed and contracted numerous custom homes, office buildings, retail stores, and commercial interiors throughout the California Bay Area and northern Nevada. Fred has been in Reno for more than 25 years, building approximately 50 custom homes in Caughlin Ranch and hundreds of homes in Reno and the surrounding areas, including Lake Tahoe.
He has spearheaded many planned communities: Highland Pines near Rancho San Rafael Park, Hidden Meadows, Golden Highlands, Seasons at Caughlin Ranch and numerous developments in Kiley Ranch. Fred’s field of experience, combined with his education and real estate development background, established the foundation of Altmann Construction’s success. His passion for the environment, sustainability, and the great outdoors have paved the way for Better Green Building Company.
